Kate has been busy writing with a new group, The Empty Quarter, over the last year.
Qalandari dub gypsies, the Empty Quarter, have been pouring out their collective heart and soul in the studio over the last few months.
The group continue to explore the realms of the heart through the words of the mystic poets, rumi, hafez and ghalib and their own original lyrics.
The group launched their debut ep at the darebin music feast, on September 8.
The Empty Quarter have also featured on Joh Saffran and Father Bob's programme on Triple J, on ABC Radio National, community radio stations PBS and RRR and more ...

IN OTHER NEWS - HOPE AFAR
Kate has just returned from Pakistan where, as part of Hope AFAR (http://www.hope-afar.org), has been part of orgaising development projects among poor Afghans.
Hope AFAR have partnered with a local organisation, the United Youth of the Khijri Tribe (a grassroots Afghan group) who are working to eradicate poverty in their local region, promote education and who also mediate tribal disputes and factional wars.
They have done some incredibly inspiring things to date and are absolutely amazing!
The longer term plan of Hope AFAR, in partnership with the United Youth of the Khijri Tribe, is to build a school and a medical centre in an area outside of Quetta (the capital of Baluchistan). But in the mean time, Baluchistan has been hit by a devastating earthquake which you can read more at http://www.hope-afar.org
The organisaiton are trying to raise money to buy blankets, flour, and tents for those affected by the quake and also trying to gather together a core group of dedicated volunteers who can help support the organisation through their extended networks, to help with organising fundraising events etc, so please be in touch if you are interested via the guestbook page here on the website.
